Catechism Crafts

This page is devoted to giving you ideas on crafts you can do to really cement and solidify the lessons from the Baltimore Catechism No. 1.  This grew out of a need to pep up our religion lessons as well as give my kiddos something tangible for remembering their information or even making it more personal.  Hope these are helpful to you.

Catechism Lesson One:  The Purpose of Man's Existence.
We made "Man's Purpose Mobiles":  Heaven is the ultimate goal and the way to get there is to know God, love God, and serve God.

Catechism Lesson Two:  God and His Perfections.
We each made an adoration card to be used after Communion or anytime really.

Catechism Lesson Three:  The Unity and the Trinity of God
We made a toy which we called "Trinity Twirlers".  One God, three separate persons.

Catechism Lesson Four:  Creation and the Angels
A Guardian Angel reminder to be put in car, in bedroom, anywhere really.  Don't forget to name your angel and thank him every night for your safe day.

Catechism Lesson Five: The Creation and the Fall of Man.
An Examination of Conscience for Kids or a list of the Baptismal Promises was suggested in the book, which I loved! Most definitely you could have typed one up to be used each night before saying the Act of Contrition and then falling peacefully asleep knowing that God loves them, forgives them and tomorrow is a new day.

Catechism Lesson Six:  Actual Sin

Catechism Lesson Seven:  The Incarnation
We glued on homemade images (colored on tracing paper for opacity) to a candle holder for The Incarnation. God becomes man and the light of Christ enters the world.
